Yoga FAQ
Below are some of the most common questions we get. We’re happy to talk, give us a call if you have more!
Are the yoga classes heated? All of the classes at RCY are heated to a comfortable 80 degrees except for a few which are heated to 72 degrees. These classes are noted with an asterisk** on the schedule . We believe this is the optimal temperature to allow your body to stretch and open at its own pace as well as to generate a nice detoxifying sweat.
Why don’t the classes have levels? Our classes are all levels for a few reasons. Our experienced teachers have the ability to help you modify the practice to your experience and ability. Open level classes also create the community feeling that we’re going for by allowing newer students and more experienced students to practice and be inspired by each other.
What if I’m totally new to yoga? Even if you’re totally new to yoga you are still completely welcome in any of our all levels classes. We also offer our signature Foundations of Yoga class every Sunday at noon. This class will give you an overview of how our unique studio works, teach you some of the basic Vinyasa Flow sequences that are common to all of our classes and allow time for a Q&A with the teacher.
How often do you recommend coming to yoga class? We recommend practicing yoga daily, even if it’s only 10-15 minutes at home and coming into class three or more times per week. Coming to class means participating in community, being encouraged by your fellow students and teachers and keeping energized and on track. Yoga is transformative! Just Do It!
How does the sliding scale work? At RCY we want to support you being able to create a regular Yoga practice in your life. Our sliding scale allows you to afford to come to Yoga as often as you can while also donating to the best of your ability to support your teachers who work in a collaborative model. If you’re regularly coming to class two or more times per week you’ll probably find our monthly unlimited package the best deal. Remember – pay what you can afford, come as often as you can!
Do you provide yoga mats? Yes, we have yoga mats available for each class free of charge.
I’m injured or have a health concern? If you’re unsure of whether Yoga is right for you, always be sure to check in with your physician first. Also, always let your teachers know about any injuries or medical conditions that you might have, any prescription medicines you are taking and if you are pregnant.
