Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Insomnia and Myofascial Pain
After having two babies only 14 months apart my body began falling apart. My second child was 9 months old and sleeping through the night but I was not able to. I had terrible insomnia and extreme fatigue. Even on nights that I did not wake up I still felt exhausted from the moment I opened my eyes in the morning. But the most alarming symptom I felt was bad muscle and joint pain. I had always exercised 4-5 times a week and kept in good shape. Now I was having trouble walking up and down stairs. I would go for a walk and be sore for days. My fingers were sore constantly and I would struggle to chop vegetables for dinner or use a can opener. Many nights I was not able to put my kids to bed because of the pain I was in. I was 32 years old and had no idea what was happening. After 2 months of seeing my primary care doctor as well as a rheumatologist I was on 6 different medications to help with the pain, fatigue, and insomnia. I still felt terrible. They did extensive testing and could find no reasons for the pain I was experiencing. A friend recommended that I try acupuncture and at that point I was willing to try anything. I remember she told me at the very least I will have a good nap and get an hour away from my kids so I thought it was worth a try.
My first visit to see Jason was just wonderful. He sat and talked with me for about 45 minutes and took the time to listen to me. This was one of the most reassuring things after having been to so many doctor’s appointments where I would talk for 2-3 minutes and then walk out with yet another prescription to try. Jason listened, asked questions, took notes and then told me what he thought. He told me he was very confident I would feel better in 6 weeks. I thought he was crazy!
Well 4 weeks later I began sleeping well consistently night after night! What a difference. I was so thankful for the progress I didn’t even dare to think that my muscle and joint pain would get better too. But it did! In 6 weeks I was able to start doing yoga and taking walks again. Within 2 months I was off all 6 medications. I continued with Jason for about 7 months. In this time I just felt better and better. I actually was able to train and compete in a triathlon this summer. I went from not being able to walk more than a mile to finishing a triathlon in less than a year. My results from acupuncture were life changing and I am grateful every day for having my life back! ~AS
Acid Reflux and Depression
As a professional woman and busy mother, I needed something that would give me immediate relief from painful reflux symptoms. It was obvious when I met Jason Henson that I had come to the right place. Jason’s ability to communicate clearly and his reassuring manner made me quickly feel comfortable. He listened intently to each of my steadily improving reports as symptoms continually diminished over a two-month period. Using both acupuncture and Chinese herbal Medicine, my reflux symptoms were eliminated and my sense of wellbeing and outright enthusiasm has returned. ~ LS
Knee Pain – Surgery Avoided
I injured my knee in February of 2010, and MRI results showed a torn meniscus and a partial tear of my ACL. After a Doctor misdiagnosed this injury in February, I walked around in pain for 6 months with no signs of improvement. Once I got a second opinion, and had my MRI, it was confirmed that there was a problem and it had not gotten better. In fact, the leg had gotten worse because of my favoring it. I was scheduled for surgery and told to sign up for physical therapy. I had about a month’s time before surgery, and I was still in a lot of pain. A friend told me about acupuncture and thought I should try it out. I’m a skeptic when it comes to everything, and I am afraid of needles, so I almost didn’t go. Thankfully I took the chance and went. The needles do not hurt when they are applied, so this of course made me happy. I did not know what to expect, but I would have done anything at this point. I was amazed when after even just one treatment there was more comfort in my step. Because it seemed to be working, I kept going. Who would have thought that the day I was scheduled to have surgery I was walking around with no pain in my knee. I was able to cancel surgery and move on with my life. I was a skeptic at the start, but I am certainly a believer now. I was also pleased with the pricing. Most places that offer Acupuncture offer it at higher price point. I’m just a kid waiting tables to put myself through college, so there isn’t to much extra I can afford. Without acupuncture I would be on crutches right now recovering from surgery. Instead, I helped my friend move into their new apartment today! I have since been able to move on from my knee and spend some more time on other issues I have had such as my back, headaches, and even stress. There are many things they can help you with, so do yourself a favor and ask! I’m glad I did! ~BC
Neck and Low Back Pain
Prior to starting acupuncture I had chronic neck and low back pain for more than 20 years. Having a pretty physical job, I was forced to take pain medications on a daily basis. Since I started acupuncture I have been able to discontinue all of my pain medications and I am now living pain free! ~ MH
Arthritis – Knee Pain
I’ve had 5 knee operations including having all cartilege removed and 1 ACL repair. My first operation was in 1964 and I’ve been living with arthritis pain ever since… that is until I went to RCA and Jason eliminated my pain in 3-4 weeks. Now I go once a month for a tune up. I can’t tell you how good it feels to walk pain free. ~DO
Cancer – Adjunctive Treatment
I underwent chemotherapy every other Thursday as part of my breast cancer treatment and throughout the course of my treatment I also received acupuncture two times per week at Revolution Community Acupuncture. While I found that some of my fellow patients undergoing the same chemotherapy treatment as me were exhausted throughout the duration of their chemotherapy treatment, I had minimal fatigue and nausea. The only day I missed work was the day I received chemo. The Saturday following chemo I experienced some exhaustion, but I was back to work on Monday. On one occasion when I felt nauseous from the chemo, Jason relieved my nausea on the spot with an acupuncture treatment and it never returned throughout my remaining chemo treatments. I cannot speak highly enough about the benefits I experienced by incorporating acupuncture into my cancer treatment plan as a way to combat the side effects from chemotherapy.
I had been on a blood pressure medication for a number of years and my blood pressure had always been well controlled. During a recent visit to my doctor, I learned that it had risen considerably. My doctor wanted me to start on a second medication. She also said that my cholesterol was a little high and that we should watch it. I decided to see if acupuncture could help because I really didn’t want to go on another medication. Jason explained that acupuncture combined with herbal medicine can be quite effective. After starting a course of herbs for 6 weeks, I visited my doctor, who was amazed. Not only was my blood pressure lower, but it was lower than it had ever been and my cholesterol was back in the normal range. My doctor wants me to continue with the herbal treatments and says that if all keeps going well, I may not need any blood pressure medication at all! ~ BL
Before beginning acupuncture and herbal treatment for my endometriosis I had tried many other treatments including birth control and even having surgery. However, nothing had helped and some months I had so much pain that I even ended up in the Emergency Room. Jason explained to me that a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine could be a good solution. I wasn’t sure how much it could help because I had been let down so many times before, but I felt I had nothing to lose. But after just one month of treatment I could already see a difference in my pain levels and after using acupuncture and herbal medicine for three months I was having a normal period with no pain! ~ LH
I had dealt with chronic allergies my entire life, not going one day without a stuffy runny nose and sneezing, and tried many medications. Before starting acupuncture I had begun doing allergy shots which only seemed to make me worse. I wasn’t sure how acupuncture could help, but during my first treatment I could feel my sinuses draining and I had no symptoms for the next 24 hours. A day of no symptoms may not seem like much, but for me it was amazing. I continued acupuncture regularly over the next 6 months and I can now say that I am allergy free! ~ JM
